The main configuration file defines the default values and is serving its properties for the Spring configuration files described in Section 4.4, “Spring read configuration files”.

The olat.properties file is well documented, you should read there what and how to set the values.

OLAT will startup without configuration, using the integrated HSQLDB and a data directory path defined by the Java property java.io.tmpdir
